January 2017 meeting

Our first meeting of 2017 was hosted by Paul in Guelph. Upon arrival there was much talk about Paul’s system – an electric brewery with kettles from Stout Tanks. Very Shiny, absolutely impressive, and with it he puts out some very nice beers!

Paul’s brewery – an electric HERMS he has set up in his basement.

The theme of the meeting was “Winter Warmers”, which there were certainly many of to be sampled. We don’t exclude though and also enjoyed IPAs, reds, ciders and others!

Beyond the tour of Paul’s brewery, and the many samples poured, club events for 2017 were discussed. These include a malt bulk buy, a gear swap, possibly a club barbecue all coming up in the near future. We are also looking to do some education initiatives, which may include an off flavour tasting event, special presentations on brewing, and continued development of our brewing book share program.

Decent turn out for our first meeting of 2017!

Lastly, in 2017, True Grist will introduce paid memberships. These paid memberships will grant participation in our many special events, and support various club initiatives. We are targeting an optional annual membership fee of $20. Attending our monthly meetings and participating on our online forum will continue to be free. Once introduced, we will explore getting a logo designed for the club, as well as getting some club swag as first orders of business. More to come on this in the near future!
