The September 2018 meeting was held at the Royal City Brewing warehouse in Guelph. This month marks our official 2-year anniversary as a club! At this meeting, we ran our usual Troubleshooting Corner before starting club announcements. These announcements included:

  • The upcoming hops and harvest festival – True Grist is a community partner for this and we are in search of some volunteers to help run a homebrewing demonstration
  • Upcoming bulk buys
    • In progress BSG bulk buy (malts and more) through Kamil Juices
    • In planning cider buy
    • In discussion Barn Owl malt buy
  • Club financial update
  • Upcoming competitions (Funks, Brewslam and True Brewer)

A link to the announcement slides can be found here.

Cam and Dan from Royal City talked about starting the brewery, their QC program, upgrading the brewery over time, as well as their overall philosophy with the brewery. We got to sample some delicious tequila-barrel aged gose. Cam took us on a tour of the warehouse explaining base malt choices, packaging challenges, and showing off the cold storage of their beer.

The new club hats and glasses were also handed out. If you haven’t made arrangements for your swag yet, please get in touch with our Group Buys Director Josh ().

Next months meeting is October 10 at Rhythm & Brews in Cambridge. We look forward to a thought provoking presentation on Beer Diversity by our special guest speaker Ren Navarro! See you there!
