In September we met at KJ Urban Winery and Craft Brewing Supplies. And what a great meeting it was!
Our presentation for the evening was a primer on sensory science delivered by Club Members and Beer Sommeliers Sheena Strauss and Lindsay Barber. We learnt about how aroma and flavour are sensed and processed, and had aroma and flavour demos. The aroma demo served to widen our vocabulary when it came to a handful of beer descriptors, while the flavour demo shed some light on differential sensitivities of areas of the tongue to characteristics such as sour, sweet, bitter, etc. Thank you Sheena and Lindsay!
