True Grist held a special meeting in December at Short Finger Brewing Company in their soon-to-come tasting bar area. At this meeting we recapped the year, spoke about what’s planned for 2019, and took some time to thank everyone who had made it possible to get to this point. There was especially high attendance at this event as many of our members brought along guests, and we extended special invitations to friends of the club. Be sure to check out the slides from our presentation if you missed it!

Capacity testing the in-construction SFBC tasting room, and providing a recap of True Grist activities in 2018

In addition to all of this, we had some fun and hooked up the True Grist Jockey Box and the SFBC jockey box to serve rotating kegs of homebrew (as well as SFBC’s Hop Lt.), and held a charity raffle for The Food Bank of Waterloo Region. Items donated by Tavistock Hops, SFBC, Escarpment Labs, Block Three, and from True Grist were bundled up by our Club Executive, into an assortment of insatiable raffle items.

One of the several hot raffle items!

Between cash donations and our raffle, the club raised exactly our goal of $1000 for The Food Bank! Thank you to everyone who participated in the raffle, donated raffle items, and made cash or food donations!

We are at Block Three in St. Jacob’s for our January 9th meeting, where the winner of the 2018 True Brewer competition will be announced, and we’ll pick the mind of Kevin Freer (again!) on all things sour/fruited/barrel aged/spontaneously fermented beer. See you there!
