Big Brew Day 2018

On Saturday, May 5th, True Grist teamed up with Short Finger Brewing Co. for the clubs first AHA Big Brew Day. Big Brew day is an annual event where brewers invite other brewers, friends and family to take part in the hobby and have a good time in Celebration of National Homebrew Day.

2018 Keg Bulk Buy

The kegs have landed!

True Grist members went in for a short notice buy of a skid of 75 used ball lock cornelius kegs from Ontario Beer Kegs. What a great opportunity this was to grow personal keg supply.  If you participated in this buy, check your email for the pick up instructions.

2018 Honey Bulk Buy

At the March 2018 True Grist meeting at Revel Cider, we distributed the spoils of our first ever honey bulk buy. In total the club ordered 300kg from Dave’s Apiaries in London.

For March, True Grist members were invited into Revel Cider in Guelph, ON. This was a look into the production of the excellent dry ciders Revel has become known for. Tariq and Stephen discussed their fermentation philosophies and methods, and touched on topics including aging, blending, tannin in cider, and more.

On Saturday March 3rd 2018, 6 volunteers sorted out the grain splits for our annual Spring malt bulk buy at Kamil Juices. Chris K. brought along some imperial stout to share, which was just the ticket to get all of this done!

This year True Grist ran a group buy again for a cider blend for hard cider production from Frank E’s in Vanessa, ON. This delicious juice is cold pressed, UV-pasteurized, and non-sulphited.
