Tavistock 2019 Field Visit

Last year, I missed out on our visit to Tavistock during the harvest season, So I was pretty excited that I was able to go this time around. Since Tavistock is just half an hour drive west of Waterloo and the weather was cooperative, I decided to accept the challenge and ride my bike to the hop yard.

I didn’t get into craft beer & homebrewing until after I had four kids. I’m not saying they are the reason I drink, but I do know to relax with a beer when the rare opportunity presents itself.

For our October 2019 meeting, we were at Short Finger Brewing Co. in Kitchener. It was also Canada’s first National Beer Day and we celebrated with homebrew and a group photo with our flag.

August marked True Grist’s return to North Works Brewery as well as our return to our regular meeting schedule.  After a busy summer of club activities it was a welcome return to normalcy to once again gather together and share a pint or two of North Works’ delicious brews.

While storms lingered in the forecast for much of June 1st, Mother Nature spared the homebrewers that had gathered at Short Finger Brewing Co. to celebrate the 1st Canadian Homebrew Day with True Grist.

2019 Escarpment Labs Visit

In place of a monthly meeting in May, we went to Escarpment Labs in Guelph for a special educational event. This was our third time visiting the lab as a club, and it’s incredible to see how much they’ve grown with each year’s visit!

Spring 2019 the club ran a hop bulk buy with Topp’s hops. We brought in approximately 200lbs, which were organized and distributed from Short Finger Brewing Company
